Day 1: Travel from Kampala to Kidepo Valley National Park via Gulu highway. On this day, after your early morning breakfast, you will be met with the Upcountry Safaris Uganda guide for the briefing and then embark on the long drive journey to northern Uganda, we shall have a stopover along the way at Kabalega dinners for lunch. From there proceed to Gulu town where we shall spend the overnight. Meal Plan: Breakfast and Lunch Accommodation: Boma Hotel Gulu. Day 2: Transfer to Kidepo Valley National Park and Evening Game Drive After your breakfast, you start your 4hrs drive to Kidepo valley national park; you will go through the remote countryside and the scenic landscapes, upon arrival at the park you will check in at the hotel for some relaxation and lunch. From there drive through the Kidepo towards the Narus Valley in the south in search of the wildlife species such as the Cheetah, Striped Hyena, Bat-eared Fox, Caracal, Lions, Leopards, Zebra, Giraffe, Kob, Topi, Jackson’s Hartebeest, Oribi, and Warthog. From there drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner Accommodation: Kidepo savanna lodge. Day 3: Morning game drive in Kidepo National Park and afternoon Karamajong community tour On this day very early in the morning, we shall go for another Kidepo experience. Your guide will lead you to another game drive towards Kanangorok hot springs; on this, you see a lot of animals and birds together with the ostriches. Retire back to the lodge for the lunch. After lunch, you will head to the local community of the Karamajong tribe. Enjoy the traditional performance, visit the kraals, learn about their lifestyle, and visit their craft shops. We shall have a stopover in Kitgum or Gulu town for lunch. Arrive in Murchison in the late afternoon and check in at the lodge and relax for the rest of the night. On this day after early morning breakfast at the lodge, kick start your adventure on the morning game drive on the Northern bank of the park, and this will enable us with sightings of Lions, cape buffalos, waterbucks, leopards, Jackson’s hartebeest, Rothschild’s giraffe, oribi, and olive baboons are some of the animals to expect. By around noon retire for the lunch break and some relaxation. After lunch, your safari guide will pick you up and embark on a three-hour private launch cruise on the Nile, this boat cruise offers an adventurous view of the Murchison falls from the bottom angle. Animals like Hippos, Nile crocodiles, antelopes, and aquatic birds can be seen along the river banks. Hike up to the top of the falls as you enjoy the scenic Murchison falls as the river squeezes its way through a narrow gorge of 7m in the rocks and tabors 43m below speeding westwards into Lake Albert. You will have a stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, a home to white rhinos for a guided rhino trekking on foot and after the tracking, you will have lunch. You will continue and head towards the park and visit top of Murchison the strongest waterfall. It is famous for its powerful plunges over 40 meters’ cliff and breathtaking scenery of river Nile. After early breakfast, you will head for briefing from the Kibale national park offices regarding the rules and requirements while tracking chimpanzee. After briefing, you will be given walking sticks and led into the forest to find the primates. Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale National park takes between 3 to 5 hours. It is a different experience from gorilla trekking because chimps are more vocal and love to spend time on top of trees. They are also more mobile and might require that you follow them for long time before they settle down to give you a chance to take photos. You will return to the hotel for lunch and rest. Later in the evening, you will go for a walk around the Bigodi swamp walk to spot other primates and several species of birds.
