Day 1: Arrival in Kigali – City Tour & Welcome

Touch down at Kigali International Airport, where your Upcountry Safaris guide will warmly welcome you to Rwanda. Depending on your arrival time, enjoy a guided tour of the capital — visiting landmarks such as the Kigali Genocide Memorial, local art galleries, and craft markets. Kigali’s clean streets, green hills, and friendly energy offer a smooth and fascinating start to your East African journey.

Day 2: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park – Gorilla Briefing

After breakfast, journey north through Rwanda’s lush countryside to Volcanoes National Park, home of the endangered mountain gorillas. The scenic drive offers views of terraced hills and the majestic Virunga volcanoes. Upon arrival, check into your lodge and attend a detailed gorilla trekking briefing in preparation for tomorrow’s thrilling adventure.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking Adventure – Cross to Uganda (Kisoro)

Rise early for a once-in-a-lifetime experience: gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park. Hike through misty rainforest with experienced trackers, and spend a magical hour observing a gorilla family in their natural habitat. After the trek, return for lunch and then cross the Cyanika border into Uganda, continuing to Kisoro for a relaxed evening.

Day 4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth – The Baboon Safari Resort

After breakfast, begin your journey north through the dramatic landscapes of southwestern Uganda toward Queen Elizabeth National Park. Pass by volcanic crater lakes, rolling banana plantations, and rural homesteads. Arrive in the late afternoon and check into your lodge, set in the peaceful escarpments near Kyambura.

Day 5: Game Drive & Boat Safari – Transfer to Kibale (Isunga Lodge)

Start your day with a game drive in the Kasenyi Plains of Queen Elizabeth — where lions, elephants, buffalo, and Uganda kobs roam freely. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat safari along the Kazinga Channel, a paradise for birdlife, hippos, and crocodiles. Later, drive to Kibale Forest region, arriving at the tranquil Isunga Lodge nestled in the crater lakes.

Day 6: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale – Drive to Hoima

After an early breakfast, head into Kibale Forest National Park for a thrilling chimpanzee tracking experience. Listen to their hoots and calls as you trek through dense jungle, and watch them swing playfully through the canopy. After lunch, begin your drive to Hoima, a calm stopover between Kibale and Murchison.

Day 7: Drive to Murchison Falls NP – Top of the Falls Visit

Today’s journey continues to Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest and most dramatic conservation area. Upon arrival, visit the iconic Top of the Falls, where the Nile River explodes through a 7-meter gorge. Soak in the thunder, mist, and rainbows of this unforgettable natural wonder.

Day 8: Morning Game Drive – Afternoon Boat Cruise

Start the day with a morning game drive in the northern sector, spotting giraffes, hartebeest, lions, hyenas, and more along the Nile Delta tracks. In the afternoon, enjoy a Nile River boat cruise to the base of Murchison Falls, passing hippos, crocodiles, and countless water birds along the way.

Day 9: Transfer to Entebbe via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary – Departure

After breakfast, begin your return journey south toward Entebbe. En route, stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a guided walking safari to see white rhinos in their natural habitat. Continue through Uganda’s central countryside and arrive in Entebbe in time for your international flight or overnight stay.
