Designed for the curious traveler who seeks comfort, close wildlife encounters, and diverse ecosystems, this safari offers a rich, mid-range adventure led by the expert hands of Upcountry Safaris Uganda.

For a luxury version of the 8-day Northern Treasures of Kenya safari (Nairobi – Samburu – Ol Pejeta – Lake Nakuru – Maasai Mara), pricing will be significantly higher due to upgraded accommodations, enhanced service, private guiding, and finer amenities.
Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi – Welcome to Kenya!
On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you'll be warmly received by your Upcountry Safaris representative. Enjoy a relaxed transfer to your hotel for rest and overnight.
Accommodation: Hilton Garden Inn, Nairobi
Meals: No meals included (Dinner on own arrangement)
Day 2: Nairobi – Samburu National Reserve
After an early breakfast, depart Nairobi by road heading north past Isiolo to the rugged landscapes of Samburu National Reserve. Arrive in time for lunch at your lodge before setting off for an afternoon game drive. Samburu is known for its dry semi-arid conditions and unique wildlife not commonly seen in other parts of Kenya — including the Samburu Special Five: Grevy’s zebra, Somali ostrich, reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx, and gerenuk. Large predators like lions, leopards, and cheetahs also roam here.
Accommodation: Samburu Sopa Lodge
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 3: Full Day in Samburu
Start early with a sunrise game drive when wildlife is most active. Return for breakfast and relax at the lodge before heading out again in the afternoon. Optionally, spend the entire day on an extended drive with packed breakfast and picnic lunch to cover deeper areas of the reserve. Keep an eye out for elephants cooling off by the river and possibly the famous lioness Kamunyak, known for adopting oryx calves.
Accommodation: Samburu Sopa Lodge
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 4: Samburu – Ol Pejeta Conservancy (via Mt. Kenya)
After breakfast, journey south past the slopes of Mount Kenya to the private and highly acclaimed Ol Pejeta Conservancy. This conservancy is home to Kenya’s largest population of black rhinos, and also features chimpanzees at the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary — the only place in Kenya to see them. Enjoy lunch at camp and an afternoon game drive through the conservancy, which also protects lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, and Grevy’s zebras.
Accommodation: Serena Sweetwaters Camp
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 5: Ol Pejeta – Lake Nakuru National Park
Enjoy a final game drive in Ol Pejeta before setting off toward Lake Nakuru, driving along the Great Rift Valley Escarpment. Stop at scenic viewpoints en route, and optionally visit Thomson Falls in Nyahururu (entry not included). Arrive at Lake Nakuru Lodge in time for lunch and embark on an afternoon game drive. Spot both white and black rhinos, Rothschild’s giraffes, and possibly elusive leopards, all set against the vibrant backdrop of the lake — often lined with flamingos.
Accommodation: Lake Nakuru Lodge
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 6: Lake Nakuru – Maasai Mara Game Reserve
After breakfast and a morning game drive, proceed toward the legendary Maasai Mara Game Reserve, passing through Narok, the heartland of the Maasai people. Arrive at Ashnil Mara Camp in time for lunch. Later, enjoy your first game drive in the Mara — a vast, wildlife-rich savannah where lions, elephants, and other big game roam freely.
Accommodation: Ashnil Mara Camp
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 7: Full Day in Maasai Mara
Spend a full day exploring the Mara with picnic lunch in hand. The gently rolling plains teem with wildlife: herds of buffalo, topi, eland, elephants, and (during season) the Great Wildebeest Migration. The reserve is also famed for its healthy population of big cats — lion, leopard, and cheetah. Over 450 bird species also make the Mara a birdwatcher’s delight.
Accommodation: Ashnil Mara Camp
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Optional Activities (Book in advance):
Masai Village Visit: $25 per person
Hot Air Balloon Safari with Champagne Breakfast: $450 per person
