Arrival Day: Kilimanjaro Airport – Arusha

Welcome to Tanzania! Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you'll be warmly greeted by our Upcountry Safaris representative and transferred to your hotel in Arusha. Nestled at the foot of Mount Meru, Arusha offers the perfect pre-safari retreat. Spend your evening relaxing, acclimatizing, and soaking in the anticipation of your adventure ahead.

Day 1: Lake Manyara OR Tarangire National Park

Choose your opening chapter:

• January–May: Explore Lake Manyara, a lush, compact gem tucked beneath the Rift Valley Escarpment. Enjoy a game drive that weaves through groundwater forests, lakeshores, and acacia woodland—home to baboon troops, elephants, giraffes, and the elusive tree-climbing lions.

• June–December: Enter Tarangire National Park, famed for its massive elephant herds and ancient baobab trees. The Tarangire River sustains wildlife year-round, especially during dry months when zebras, wildebeest, impalas, and predators crowd the riverbanks.

As the sun dips below the horizon, retire to your comfortable lodge in the Manyara region.

Day 2: Serengeti National Park – Into the Wild

After breakfast, venture northwest to the legendary Serengeti National Park. This vast, UNESCO-listed ecosystem teems with over four million animals and plays host to the Great Migration—an epic movement of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles. Along the way, enjoy a game drive as you traverse savannahs and kopjes, arriving at your lodge or tented camp in time for sunset.

Day 3: Full-Day Safari – Serengeti’s Pulse

Today, immerse yourself in a full-day safari across the Serengeti, following the rhythms of nature. Choose between a full-day game drive with a picnic lunch or a split-day schedule, returning to camp for lunch and rest before heading out again in the golden hours of the afternoon. Lions lounge under acacias, cheetahs sprint after prey, and elephants march peacefully across the grasslands.

Day 4: Final Game Drive & Journey to Ngorongoro Crater Rim

Begin the day with a sunrise game drive, soaking up the last golden moments of the Serengeti. After breakfast, journey southeast toward the Ngorongoro Highlands. Your lodge this evening is perched on the crater rim, offering dramatic views into the world's largest intact volcanic caldera—where your next adventure awaits.

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater – Safari’s Grand Finale

Wake before dawn and descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, often called Africa’s "Garden of Eden." This ancient caldera is home to roughly 35,000 animals, including rhinos, lions, hyenas, elephants, flamingos, and more. With its enclosed ecosystem, the game viewing is unmatched. After a picnic lunch by a hippo pool, begin your return journey to Arusha or directly to Kilimanjaro Airport for your flight out.
