Day 1: Arrival in Kigali – Transfer to Bwindi via Cyanika Border
Arrive in Kigali and meet your Upcountry Safaris guide for a warm welcome. Begin a scenic drive through northern Rwanda, passing rolling hills and rural villages. Cross the Cyanika Border into Uganda and continue to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. Settle into your forest lodge and relax ahead of your trek.
Overnight: Lake Mulehe Safari Lodge or Rushaga Gorilla Lodge
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi – Optional Cultural Walk
After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing and begin your gorilla trekking experience. Hike through dense jungle to find one of the habituated gorilla families and spend a magical hour observing these gentle giants. Return to the lodge for a well-deserved rest. In the afternoon, you may opt to visit the local Batwa community to learn about forest-dwelling traditions.
Overnight: Lake Mulehe Safari Lodge or Rushaga Gorilla Lodge
Day 3: Return to Kigali – Optional Genocide Memorial Visit
Enjoy breakfast and begin your return drive to Kigali, with photo stops en route. If time allows, visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial or local craft markets before drop-off at your hotel or the airport for your onward flight.
